A Bangladeshi youth named Md. Khademul (25) was killed in alleged firing by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Amjhol border in Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat district.The incident took place in the early hours of Thursday near pillar no. 905/6-S in the Amjhol border area under the Bonchouki BOP. The deceased was the son of Amzad Hossain of the same village. According to local residents, Khademul, along with several alleged Bangladeshi smugglers, entered around 150 yards inside Indian territory through the Amjhol border area. At that time, a patrol team from the BSF’s 78 Battalion, Paglamari Camp, allegedly opened fire on them. Khademul sustained bullet injuries to his face, chest, hand, and head.

With the help of his companions, the injured Khademul returned to Bangladesh territory. He was later rescued by locals and associates and admitted to a clinic in Rangpur, where he died while undergoing treatment.

Lieutenant Colonel Mehdi Imam, commanding officer of BGB Lalmonirhat 15 Battalion, confirmed the incident. He said the BSF initially denied the shooting allegation. However, a flag meeting at the company commander level has been called, and further details are expected to emerge after the meeting.
